Flames severely damaged the Jordan Inn and a restaurant called Fitzerellis in Glendive on the night of Tuesday, October 24th, into the early hours of Wednesday.
The Inn has been closed for awhile, and no injuries have been reported.
Fitzerellis posted on their Facebook page that they will be closed today and “for the foreseeable future”, as “it looks like our business was lost”.
The post also says Fitzerellis’ owners don’t expect to know the full extent of the damage for “some time”.
The restaurant was once the Rose Theater, and Baker resident Scotty Simmons, who spent some of his childhood in Glendive, laments the potential loss of both establishments.
“I saw Star Wars at the Rose Theater in 1977, and E.T. and Back to the Future.” Simmons reminisced. “A lot of childhood memories in those buildings.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
