Authorities searching for 'active shooter' in Glendive

According to information from the Dawson County Law Enforcement Center, there has been no status change in the situation overnight. People are still advised to stay away from the area along Marsh Road. Roads are still blocked off and the public is advised to stay away from the ongoing situation.

Law enforcement officers request that individuals do not call 9-1-1 unless they have an emergency or they see the suspect.

Dawson County law enforcement is still actively looking for a suspect in a shooting incident that occurred in Dawson County this afternoon. A shelter in place order has been lifted, however the suspect has not been apprehended yet.

According to Dawson County Dispatch Communications Director Janet Moore, multiple agencies are still on the scene of the shooting, which occurred in a rural part of the county near Marsh Road sometime before 4 p.m. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol, Probation and Parole and Motor Carrier Services all responded to the incident.

Moore confirmed there has been multiple people injured in the event but could not confirm how many. Some reports are placing the number at two. The suspect is believed to have travelled south along Marsh Road from the scene of the incident; Prairie County authorities have been notified that the suspect may be heading their way.

GLENDIVE, Mont. — The Glendive Police Department is responding to an active shooter situation.

Officials are warning residents who live in the Marsh Road area to stay inside their homes and lock the doors and windows.

Residents will be told when the situation is over and it’s safe to leave their homes.

Officials advise the public to avoid calling the police department unless there is an emergency or there is information about the active shooter situation, as lines are being flooded with calls.

The Glendive Police Department and Dawson County Sheriff’s Office released the following information:

Law Enforcement is asking for all residents in the Marsh Road area of Glendive, MT to go in their houses and lock the doors and windows. They are working an active shooter situation and want everyone to remain inside until the all clear is given.
