The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has passed S. 315, the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, out of Committee.  This legislation will ensure that consumers can maintain access to AM radio in new vehicles sold in the United States.

“Millions of Americans depend on the value of AM radio and the local news that AM broadcasters offer in communities across the country.” Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission Brendan Carr said in a statement issued today. “Just last week, I visited parts of North Carolina that had been hit hard by Hurricane Helene, and I heard firsthand the stories of people that could only access lifesaving information in the days following the storm by tuning their radios to the AM band.”

Chairman Carr continued to express his hope that the Senate would move the bill forward quickly, ensuring that AM radio will remain in newly manufactured vehicles.
