The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) has announced and invites the public to comment on a proposal that will resurface about 11 miles of US Highway 12 (US 12) west of Plevna.
Proposed work includes milling and repaving the existing roadway surface, a seal and cover (chip seal), upgraded pavement markings, along with new signage, delineation, and guardrail. Additionally, culverts in poor condition will be rehabilitated or replaced as needed. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the existing pavement to enhance safety and reduce maintenance costs.
According to MDT, construction is tentatively planned beyond their five-year planning horizon, but could begin earlier depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed, and the work will be performed under two projects- the first one beginning at the O’Fallon Creek Bridge about 11 miles west of Plevna, extending east about 6 miles and ending just west of the intersection with Hay Creek Road. The second project extends an additional 5.5 miles ending just west of Plevna, near mile marker 70.
If you would like to submit a comment or idea about the project, comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation’s Glendive office, PO Box 890, Glendive, MT 59330-0890.
