It was a beautiful morning, this morning, in Sentinel Butte which was the starting point of the 6th annual Antique Tractor Parade from Sentinel Butte to Beach. Earlier this week I had visited with Roger Clemens about the parade. He told me “they could have more tractors on the road, but they don’t have enough drivers”. He even offered to let me drive one. I told him that would be a major disaster and politely declined. Roger said, “the most tractors they have had was 29”.
This contest is expired.
Tractor owners and drivers met just north of the gas station in Sentinel Butte between 7 and 8am. Most of them were locals from Beach, Sentinel Butte, and Medora. Others came from Dickinson, Killdeer and Billings. It didn’t take long, once they arrived, for the story telling and visiting to begin with lots of laughter and smiles. I really enjoyed talking with the folks I knew and some I didn’t. Of course, everyone had to give the other fellas/ladies tractor a good look before the 20 drivers started them up and hit the highway to Beach with flags flying and engines roaring.
My thanks to Roger for letting me stop with my camera. It was a terrific way to start my day.
